Tourism Queensland has just launched a pretty brilliant marketing campaign. You get to apply for “the best job in the world” – being a caretaker on a small island in the Great Barrier Reef for 6 months. And get paid A$150K for feeding the fish, cleaning the pool a bit and reporting on what there is to do in the area. Pretty much a social media reporter for Tourism Queensland. But of course the job is getting TONS of free press, and thousands of applicants, so much of the viral activity is happening long before the person starts blogging. See the publicity on BBC News, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7823812.stm – it is the most emailed story of the day.
Brilliant.
